Wacław Szpakowski is a pioneer of geometrical abstraction in art. He authored a collection of drawings “Rhythmical lines”, created between 1900-1951, partly in Bydgoszcz, where Szpakowski lived from 1931 through to 1934. Apart from drawings, photographs and sketches by Wacław Szpakowski, the exhibition will also present contemporary animations of his “Rhythmical Lines” aiming to demonstrate the complex and surprising trajectories of the lines running through his drawings, which is difficult to trace in the original pieces. The exhibition will be open from June 29, 2017 at 6.00 p.m. in the European Money Centre at Mennica 4 Street on the Mill Island.

The District Museum in Bydgoszcz will host another lecture from a cycle of meetings on the history of European art. The upcoming event will present the prevailing ideas in European art during the Baroque period. The customs of 17th-century Europe will be discussed based on the analysis of paintings, including works by Dutch, Italian and Spanish masters. Participants will also have an opportunity to discover the various forms of artistic expression in the Baroque era.

On 18 September, the opening of the main exhibition and awards ceremony of the International Graphic Art Triennial – Kraków 2015 took place. The Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz, in cooperation with the MTG Association in Krakow, have since 2009 included in the accompanying Triennial programme the series of graphic exhibitions entitled "Multiplicity in Unity".
