he project consists of arranging exhibitions (as well as associated events and publications) in museums in the Kuyavian and Pomeranian Voivodship, which would tell a tale of the city through the people who had a significant impact (political, artistic, social, scientific, etc.) on its development. It is precisely the stories of the city’s inhabitants that will form the basis for the presentation of the city’s history.

One of the essential and on-going tasks that the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz (called the Municipal Museum until 1946) has been engaged in is collecting comprehensive, reliable and thoroughly-researched data on the losses suffered as a result of the Second World War. Currently, thanks to the funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Researching Polish Wartime Losses" programme, it is possible to search for Polish paintings, which before weren't listed in the Ministry’s database of looted art.



District Museum takes over the Pharmacy Museum collections

On April 26 this year, the city council of Bydgoszcz decided to grant a subsidy worth one million złoty to the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum so that it could purchase the collections of the “Pod Łabędziem” Pharmacy Museum.

Until 12 February will be an exhibition "Late Medieval and Modern Bydgoszcz in the light of archaeological sources", presented in the Archaeological Collections. This exhibition is prepared by the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz in cooperation with the Regional Office for Protection of Historic Landmarks in Toruń, Branch in Bydgoszcz and Bydgoszcz archeologists associated in the Archeological Division of the Society of the Friends of the City of Bydgoszcz.

Leon Wyczółkowski was one of the most illustrious painters and graphic designers in Polish art from the turn of the 20th century. The artist had a personal connection with Bydgoszcz. From 1922 he lived in Gościeradz, in Bydgoszcz province, in a beautifully situated manor house. The beauty of the surrounding nature, park, orchard and far-reaching fields became his creative inspiration. The exhibition will be open from the 15th of December 2016 until the 26th of February 2017.

The highly popular "Oldtimers – motorcycles of the 20th century" exhibition returns to Exploseum. In the temporary exhibits room this year will be custom motorcycles and small-engined motorcycles. We will once again be able to feast our eyes on these colourful and rare machines. And all this in the post-industrial setting of the former DAG Fabrik Bromberg explosives production line. The opening of the exhibition will be held on 17 December at 1.00 p.m., admission free.

Nearly three hundred photographs by many well-known Czech and Slovak photographers on one exhibition - "Czech and Slovak photography from private collections".  The exhibition accompanying the 24th edition of CAMERIMAGE Festival is open until 27 November 2016 year in the Spichrze on the Brda River. For guests of the Festival prepared a special offer.
