The road to the unknown... Following the Lewis and Clark trail to the American West
|Location of the exhibition: Granaries – 7-11 Grodzka Street|
|Exhibition opens till: 2016-11-23|
The exhibition has been prepared by the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz in cooperation with Adam Piekarski – a member of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C., Polish American Indian Friends Association and Polish-American Ethnological Society, traveller and author of works about Indians, who has promoted native North American peoples in our city. The theme of the exhibition is a known event in American history from 1804-1806: the expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to the coast of the Pacific Ocean.
In the summer of 2014 Adam Piekarski travelled for three months around the United States, following the route that Lewis and Clark took. The exhibition includes rich photographic documentation created as part of the trip, items related to the character of the expedition as well as artefacts from the material culture of the Indian tribes of the Upper Missouri River. The photographs as well as the other exhibits are described by comprehensive comments made by Adam Piekarski.
