The exhibition “Opera Phonography”, comprised of items from the collection of Ewa and Adam Mańczak donated to the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz, is intended to be an introduction to the world of opera recordings from the early days of phonography in Poland and around the world in the late 19th and first half of the 20th century. Records, record players, other sound media and phonographic accessories present opera as a perfect and complete form of the performing arts. Visitors can also discover audio playback devices from the early 20th century made in America (phonographs, record players) and Europe (the Pathephone). The exhibits are supplemented by iconographic materials featuring opera singers, and the recordings are available for playing.
The preview of the exhibition “Opera Phonography” will be held, with no admission fee, on 23 April at 4:30 pm in the Archaeological Collection (basement). Open until 31 May 2016.
