Henryk Cześnik. Paintings
Author: Inga Kopciewicz
Location of the exhibition: Modern Art Gallery – 8a Mennica Street on the Mill Island
Exhibition opens till: 2016-06-05
On of the most famous and renowned Polish painters, Henryk Cześnik has been present on the international art scene for more than 35 years. He has created and participated in hundreds of exhibitions, and fashioned his own artistic language, highly personal yet universal and easily recognisable. Some viewers see his works as a surreal and dramatic vision of the surrounding world, while others recognise the tongue-in-cheek humour and noir-style grotesquery. He uses a variety of materials to express his art, including canvas and sheets.
One of his unique talents is “live” performance drawing, sometimes involving the audience.
Henryk Cześnik is a professor of painting at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, where he has taught several generations of artists for over 35 years. His works will be available for viewing in the Modern Art Gallery until 5 June.
The exhibition preview will be held, with no admission fee, on 28 April 2016 at 6 pm.
