Description:

The highly popular "Oldtimers – motorcycles of the 20th century" exhibition returns to Exploseum. In the temporary exhibits room this year will be custom motorcycles and small-engined motorcycles. We will once again be able to feast our eyes on these colourful and rare machines. And all this in the post-industrial setting of the former DAG Fabrik Bromberg explosives production line. The opening of the exhibition will be held on 17 December at 1.00 p.m., admission free.

Leon Wyczółkowski was one of the most illustrious painters and graphic designers in Polish art from the turn of the 20th century. The artist had a personal connection with Bydgoszcz. From 1922 he lived in Gościeradz, in Bydgoszcz province, in a beautifully situated manor house. The beauty of the surrounding nature, park, orchard and far-reaching fields became his creative inspiration. The exhibition will be open from the 15th of December 2016 until the 26th

Description:

The exhibition is a special event, since it shows works made by Zhang Minjie, winner of the Leon Wyczółkowski Award presented by the Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz during the International Print Triennial of Cracow in 2015. The Bydgoszcz Museum has been cooperating with the MTG Association in Cracow since 2009, when the program associating the Triennial was expanded by a series of graphic exhibitions titled “Multiplicity in unity”. The exhibition commemorates in a symbolical way the 50th anniversary of International Print Shows in Cracow celebrated in 2016.

The exhibition presents nearly three hundred photographs by many well-known Czech and Slovak photographers of different generations who created their works in the 20th and early 21st century. The main theme of the presentation is nude art complemented by portrait, reportage, landscape, experimental and candid photography. We present various formal and thematic Czech and Slovak photographs, and the nature of the artists' personal collections.

Description:

The exhibition has been prepared by the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz in cooperation with Adam Piekarski – a member of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C., Polish American Indian Friends Association and Polish-American Ethnological Society, traveller and author of works about Indians, who has promoted native North American peoples in our city. The theme of the exhibition is a known event in American history from 1804-1806: the expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

The objective of the exhibition entitled “Souvenirs of the Borderlands” was to revive the memory of the people from the Eastern Borderlands who – displaced by the war, revolution, the Riga Treaty, having lost their own homes in the eastern territories of the former Poland – have shaped the history of our city Bydgoszcz.

In the first half of the 17th century, a large part of Europe was plunged into the chaos of bloody conflict, which ingloriously went down in history as ”the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648)”. It changed the image of the old continent for a long time. The exhibition presents the main monetary systems functioning in Europe in the 17th century, with special emphasis on the period of the Thirty Years’ War (1618 – 1648), and it shows the economic functions of money at that time.

On of the most famous and renowned Polish painters, Henryk Cześnik has been present on the international art scene for more than 35 years. He has created and participated in hundreds of exhibitions, and fashioned his own artistic language, highly personal yet universal and easily recognisable. Some viewers see his works as a surreal and dramatic vision of the surrounding world, while others recognise the tongue-in-cheek humour and noir-style grotesquery. He uses a variety of materials to express his art, including canvas and sheets.
