Description:

The exhibition of competition entries presents graphic displays selected to the presentation after the 12th Józef Gielniak Graphic Competition, which was organized in 2012 by the Karkonoskie Museum in Jelenia Góra. The museum returned to its tradition of organization of an international competition of letterpress printing techniques, which commemorates the outstanding graphic artist Józef Gielniak (1932-1972), whose life and work blended in the history of the Jelenia Góra area. Restoration of the competition in 2012 had a deeper meaning, since it referred to the 80th anniversary of the artist’s birth and the 40th anniversary of his death.

John Paul II will be canonized on April 27, 2014. The Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz, in its effort to join these celebrations, prepared to the residents of Bydgoszcz presentation of coins, medals and banknotes with an image of John Paul II, which come from the collection of the Bydgoszcz Museum.

Description:

The exhibition "Ethno-Design Yesterday and Today: Inspiration or Imitation" is an attempt to answer the question – to what extent, regardless of epoch, the condition of native design is determined by cultural factors. The exhibition, prepared by the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz in cooperation with the Center of Modern Design of the National Museum in Warsaw, tells about ethnographic motifs present in contemporary and old designs. The purpose of this project is presentation of historic sources of Polish ethno-design and reflection upon the phenomenon of referring to folk culture in our native design.
