The exhibition "Ethno-Design Yesterday and Today: Inspiration or Imitation" is an attempt to answer the question – to what extent, regardless of epoch, the condition of native design is determined by cultural factors. The exhibition, prepared by the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz in cooperation with the Center of Modern Design of the National Museum in Warsaw, tells about ethnographic motifs present in contemporary and old designs. The purpose of this project is presentation of historic sources of Polish ethno-design and reflection upon the phenomenon of referring to folk culture in our native design.

Description:

The Museum of the Krajna Land invites to the exhibition “Leon Wyczółkowski 1852-1936. A Painter of the Turn of Centuries.” The opening of the exhibition will take place on December 17 at 5:00 PM in the granary on 14 Pocztowa Street.

The exhibition consists of two parts, namely the poster part, which features 18 boards showing the history of Wyczółkowski’s life and the “artistic” part, comprising 35 original artworks made by the master – oil paintings, drawings, and graphic artworks. It is a real treat for art enthusiasts, since such selection of works made by the artist, picked especially for the Nakło exhibition, has not been shown very often.

It’s worth mentioning that Leon Wyczółkowski, during a certain period of his life, maintained very close ties with our region. Living in Gościeradz, Koronowo area, he created art being inspired by the beauty of the local area, the Tuchola Forest, and the historic landmarks of Bydgoszcz and Toruń.

The works of Władysław Radziwiłłowicz are based on the painting analysis of image entangled in “media reality.” Image (pictogram, logo, technical drawing, illustration, poster, advertising photograph) has always been and continues to be a powerful means of nonverbal persuasion, effectively placing and preserving in public awareness useful information, mainly of commercial nature.

The prepared exhibition will be the first show of medals and sculptures of this artist in the Bydgoszcz Museum. It will present sculptures and over two hundred medal artworks related thematically to the current political, social and religious events, including the most famous series "Poland fighting on the fronts of World War II," "The three hundredth anniversary of the extinction of the Silesian Piast Dynasty," and a series dedicated to Pope John Paul II.

Andrzej Bobrowski is a professor at the University of Arts in Poznań, where he runs the Relief Printing Studio and the Institute of Visual Arts of the University of Zielona Góra. He is involved in graphic arts, spatial installations and painting. His changing artistic work, inspired by culture and nature, amazes with constant experiments in relief printing techniques, blending in a current of innovative trends.

Description:

The exhibition prepared for the Michał Farysej Gallery A of the Starogard Culture Center is a display of selected, most recognized artworks in the museum collection, made by artists whose concepts blend in the assumptions of performance art. From among a myriad of “varieties” of figuration, its four visions have been separated, which had a major impact on the Polish history of art.
