Author: Irena Borowczak
Location of the exhibition: Granaries – 7-11 Grodzka Street
Exhibition opens till: 2014-01-26
The prepared exhibition will be the first show of medals and sculptures of this artist in the Bydgoszcz Museum. It will present sculptures and over two hundred medal artworks related thematically to the current political, social and religious events, including the most famous series "Poland fighting on the fronts of World War II," "The three hundredth anniversary of the extinction of the Silesian Piast Dynasty," and a series dedicated to Pope John Paul II.
Exhibits will be borrowed from the artist, the Museum of Medallic Art, Branch of the City Museum of Wrocław and the National Museum of Poznań.
There are also Bydgoszcz accents in the artistic work of Józef Stasiński. In 1968, he designed two medals for the city of Bydgoszcz; the first one was made on the occasion of unveiling the monument to Henryk Sienkiewicz in Bydgoszcz; and the second one was an award medal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Cultural Society in Bydgoszcz. It also should be mentioned that in 2004-2009, the artist had been teaching sculpture to architecture and town planning students of the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz.
