The exhibition: “Rebellion – Expressionism – Transborder Avant-Garde. Works from the Berlin Collection of Prof. St. Karol Kubicki” was possible thanks to the significant collection of artworks donated to Polish museums, including the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz, by Professor Stanisław Karol Kubicki, son of the artists Margarete and Stanisław Kubicki. The exhibition is part of a larger project whose editions have also been held at the Poznań National Museum, Józef Ignacy Kraszewski Museum in Dresden and the “Roman House” Lower Silesian Photography Centre in Wrocław.

We recommend our exhibition featuring the legacy of the artistic pursuits and personal life of Jerzy Puciata. According to the last will of this artist, who died last year, his belongings were partly purchased by the Regional Museum and partly donated by his family.

     The new exhibition at the European Money Centre is another part of the series (“The History of Money”), presenting the history of money from ancient times to today. This time, it helps to understand the importance, role and specific nature of medieval coins against the background of pilgrimages to the shrine of Santiago de Compostela and in the broad context of the history and culture of medieval Europe.

The exhibition endeavours to present an overview of the history of books in prison camps operated by the Wehrmacht. It explains what made book circulation possible in the camps, how it was organized by the prisoners, how censorship was bypassed, what kinds of books were read and how many, and what other activities accompanied these efforts.

Description:

The exhibition is devoted to a little-known yet extremely interesting aspect of the history of Polish sport and physical education, concerning Polish prisoners of war. The items, documents and photographs found in POW camps, presented at the exhibition in their original form or as reproductions (large-format boards and frames), are a testament to the exceptional character and fortitude of Polish soldiers, and the importance of sporting activities for their lives in captivity.

The Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz has prepared the exhibition of a collection of contemporary painting and printmaking founded by the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz, one of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region’s major musical institutions, hosting many concerts of symphonic and chamber music and recitals of renowned virtuosi from all over the world.
