Description:

Christianisation was a long-lasting process. The symbolic date marking the inclusion of the Polish state within Christian Europe is the baptism of Mieszko on 14 April 966. This year will see the 1050th anniversary of that event, which was also related to the beginnings of the Catholic Church in Poland. To celebrate it, the District Museum has set up the poster exhibition “Christianity in Bydgoszcz”, which can be viewed on Mill Island (next to the Archaeological Collection). The exhibition is comprised of several posters which outline the history of Christianity in our city.

About the exhibition: Leon Wyczolkowski and the Art of his Epoch commemorates an era of Polish impressionist painting personified by renown Polish artist Leon Wyczolkowski.  Though the content was created by the Wyczolkowski Museum of Poland, several original historical paintings from the collections of the Polish Mission will be unveiled for the first time to give audiences a first-hand look at a celebrated era of art in Poland.

Description:

The exhibition prepared for the Julian Rydzkowski Historical – Ethnographic Museum in Chojnice is a display of selected works made by Leon Wyczółkowski from the collection of the Bydgoszcz Museum. The exhibition features 24 paintings, drawings and graphic artworks in varied topics, from different periods of work of the artist, comprising almost all types of paintings, drawings and graphic art, with particular consideration to the motif of woods and trees, which played an important role in his creative work.

Description:

The Museum of the Krajna Land invites to the exhibition “Leon Wyczółkowski 1852-1936. A Painter of the Turn of Centuries.” The opening of the exhibition will take place on December 17 at 5:00 PM in the granary on 14 Pocztowa Street.

The exhibition consists of two parts, namely the poster part, which features 18 boards showing the history of Wyczółkowski’s life and the “artistic” part, comprising 35 original artworks made by the master – oil paintings, drawings, and graphic artworks. It is a real treat for art enthusiasts, since such selection of works made by the artist, picked especially for the Nakło exhibition, has not been shown very often.

It’s worth mentioning that Leon Wyczółkowski, during a certain period of his life, maintained very close ties with our region. Living in Gościeradz, Koronowo area, he created art being inspired by the beauty of the local area, the Tuchola Forest, and the historic landmarks of Bydgoszcz and Toruń.

The exhibition prepared for the Michał Farysej Gallery A of the Starogard Culture Center is a display of selected, most recognized artworks in the museum collection, made by artists whose concepts blend in the assumptions of performance art. From among a myriad of “varieties” of figuration, its four visions have been separated, which had a major impact on the Polish history of art.

On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the birth of Leon Wyczółkowski and the 75th anniversary of the donation by his widow, Franciszka Wyczółkowska, a collection of his works (a total of 942 items) as well as personal souvenirs, furnishings and equipment of his studio, which originated in the Museum a monographic collection dedicated to the artist and his work, the Bydgoszcz City Council announced 2012 the Year of Leon Wyczółkowski.
