"SLIVERS OF THE PAST" – relations of people employed in the former German armaments factory of DAG concern in Bydgoszcz in 1939-1945
One of the principal goals for establishing museum institutions is gathering information about the past that will serve as testimony for future generations. Fulfilling this goal, the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum starts the “Slivers of the Past” campaign, which is focused on collecting reports from people employed in the armaments factory of DAG concern in Bydgoszcz.
Therefore, we make a kind request to people who once worked in this factory, people who – frequently in a brutal way – faced a grim fate of forced labor, as well as people who witnessed daily life of workers employed in DAG, to contact the Museum and share their memories. Seemingly insignificant facts, snatches of memories can appear an invaluable material for historical research on people working in the Bydgoszcz armaments factory. We are interested in descriptions provided by people who worked directly at construction and production, as well as memories related indirectly with the factory, in order to show its influence on the city of Bydgoszcz and the entire region in 1939-1945.
These reports can be sent directly to our institution by mail or e-mail; there is also a possibility of recording statements of witnesses by Museum employees (which we strongly encourage). The person coordinating the project is Maciej Kułakowski, Manager of the Department of Industrial Architecture of the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz.
Your life creates our history, which cannot be forgotten!
